My name is Leah Sumerel and I am very excited to serve Margaret Elementary as the ARI Reading Specialist. 

I am originally from Moody, Alabama. I graduated from Moody High School in 2003. I went to the University of Alabama at Birmingham and graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education in 2006. I began teaching in St. Clair County in 2006. I earned a Master's degree from UAB in 2016. 

I  live in Springville, Alabama with my husband John Sumerel and our six-year-old son, Walker.  Margaret Elementary! In our free time, we enjoy cheering for the Alabama Crimson Tide and Memphis Tigers, going to the Warrior River to visit my parents, and traveling to new places.
