I have the amazing job of teaching art, photography, sculpture, and being the sponsor for the drama club, "Saints in the Spotlight." I am constantly amazed by the depth of talent I see everyday in my classroom. I started teaching when I was 5. I would come home from school and teach my younger sister what I had learned that day. We had a board and desk- what more did I need? My love for art took off when I was in the fourth grade, when I started drawing Garfield the cat and the Smurfs. I am a proud alumni of SCCHS, Class of 1991. I have a BA double major in Art Studio-Graphic Design and Art History and a Masters in Education all from UAB. I completed the EDS Teacher Leader program at JSU in 2021. I am also a National Board Certified Teacher. Over the years, our art students have displayed their work and won awards at the county, state, and national level. Some of my favorite art projects we do every year are Bob Ross oil painting and volumetric shading. I enjoy seeing the light bulbs of creativity go off, that "Aha" moment that students have when they are being creative in the art room or on the stage.
