It's summer reading time! To better prepare you for the shift from AP Lang to AP Lit, I am offering two novels. Choose ONE to read and complete the companion assignments.
The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
There There by Tommy Orange
The objective of this summer reading assignment is to get you started with a novel that could be used to answer the FRQ3 prompt on the AP Lit exam in May. Keep in mind that whatever novel you choose, you will be reading, annotating, and note-taking. The Great Gatsby mentions alcohol, character death, cheating, class discrimination, murder, and misogynistic violence. There There mentions abusive relationships, alcoholism, drug sales, drug use, death, gun violence, strong language, and suicide. Please see the attached note about how we tackle mature content in AP Literature, which is a college level course.
