Hey 8th grade! I'm Mrs. Clark, your pre-algebra and algebra 1 teacher. I am so excited to be returning to OMS for a second year!
I married my wonderful husband James Clark in 2018 and we have two wonderful kiddos: our 4-year-old daughter Paxten and our 1-year old son PJ who was born the first week of school last year! We have attended Church of the Highlands for 5 years and serve regularly on the Growth Track team, small groups team, and kids team--but you'll find us all over the church doing all kinds of different things each Sunday. After moving around the country as an army brat for most of my life, I finally settled and graduated from Hewitt Trussville High School where I participated in band, choir, theatre, and AP classes. After falling in love with tutoring mathematics in high school, I started my degree in mathematics at UAB. UAB Teaches STEM educators to use "inquiry based learning", which I would love to discuss more with you as it will seem "new" and "different" than typical lecture-notes-mimick math classes!
I love Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Marvel movies and TV shows, Star Trek, and just about anything else you would associate with a giant nerd (except anime, you lose me there)! I also enjoy weightlifting at home (low volume/high rep), running (currently training for a 10k), cooking, and reading (especially authors like Lysa TerKeurt, Lisa Allen, Chris Hodges, Ted Dekker, John Mark Comer). My favorite band is Maverick City Music and I spend most of my listening time to "Refiner" or the new Kingdom album. That concert with Kirk Franklin was AMAZING!!! I'm also a big podcast follower and subscribe to Math Moment Makers, She Reads Truth, The Bible Recap, and Back Porch Theology, sprinkling in a few others as I run out of episodes to listen to.
Now that you've gotten to know me, I can't wait to get to know you! See ya in class!
