  • I am excited about teaching at OMS, GO SAINTS! I love OMS, my awesome students, and teaching Math. I attended Jacksonville State University and received a Master of Science Degree in Education in Library Media, a Master of Science Degree in Secondary Education, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science. I have added certifications in Special Education and Middle School Mathematics, and The National Certificate for STEM Teaching. I have taught middle school for 30+ years and am excited about teaching at OMS! I began my career teaching at Duran Junior High School for the Pell City School System. In May of 2021, I retired from teaching and spent the next school year doing contract work for the system. It did not take long to realize that I missed the classroom and wanted to teach math.

I married my husband, Paul, 33+ years ago. We have two children, Joseph and Savannah (married to Addison Lee), and one beautiful granddaughter, Georgia. I love spending time with my family. We enjoy cookouts, watching movies, playing games, working on puzzles, and pulling for Auburn - WAR EAGLE!

I believe that the purpose of education is to help students acquire the knowledge needed to become independent, life-long learners. It is our responsibility to teach children to become productive members of society. As educators, we are able to touch the lives of young people that have the ability to change our world. I believe that children learn in a variety of ways and when given the opportunity to learn information using different learning styles, they can achieve success. I want my students to know that I believe they can learn, they are smart, they are unique, and that each of them has talents that are important to our community and our world.
