Dear Odenville Community and Families,

Thank you so very much for visiting the Odenville Elementary School Webpage.  As the principal of Odenville Elementary School, I would like to welcome you to our school!!  I am delighted to be the principal at one of St Clair County's distinguished elementary schools.  I have been Odenville Elementary School's principal since 2008-2009, and every year, I am increasingly grateful to be surrounded by such motivated, smart and caring faculty, staff, students and community.  Together we all work very hard to strengthen Odenville Elementary School's reputation as a unique, rigorous and truly magical learning environment.

I received Bachelor of Science degree from Jacksonville State University in 1996, Master of Arts from the University of Alabama in 1999 and Educational Administration Certificate from Jacksonville State University in 2001.  Before becoming the principal of Odenville Elementary School in 2008-2009, I taught First Grade at Moody Elementary, Kindergarten at Glencoe Elementary and Chelsea/Mt Laurel Schools and was Assistant Principal at Odenville Elementary School.   I am married to Andy Urban who is the Athletic Director at Hoover High School.  Our children, Brayden and Anna Kate, are our precious gifts that we adore and love!!!  In our spare time, we enjoy spending time with family, attending sporting events, gardening, going to the beach and exercising!

With eight years of administrative experience and nine years of hands on teaching experience, these educational opportunities have enabled me to cultivate a supportive learning environment and reinforce the school's standards, policies and goals.   I aspire to establish a school culture and educational program conducive to student learning.  I seek to promote staff professional growth and development as well as teamwork and cooperation.  I coordinate my efforts with those of parents and family members to ensure students remained disciplined and focused and receive appropriate attention to meet their needs.

In keeping with this tradition of excellence, our two priorities are student learning and student safety.  Every student deserves a high quality education in a safe and nurturing learning environment.  The Odenville Elementary School faculty and staff is committed to providing every student in support, resources and instruction that best fits each student's needs.  Every student has unique gifts and talents that need to be recognized and cultivated.  This belief is evident in our school as we offer EVERY STUDENT, EVERY CHANCE, EVERY DAY!!!!  Odenville Elementary School is such a special place, and it is all because of the support that you as parents and a community provide for our faculty and staff.  We look forward to working with you and building a strong school community in support of our students.   Our faculty and staff are excited to make OES the best it can possibly be!!!

Research shows that parental involvement in a student's education is very beneficial.  These benefits are higher in levels of academic achievement, positive attitudes, and greater maturity and responsibility.  Because the benefits are so solid, I welcome you and urge you to take part in as much as possible in the life of our school.  Always contact your student's teacher first with any concerns you may have.  Please know my door is always open ,and I  am available to meet with you to discuss any praises or concerns that you may have christa.urban@sccboe.org or 205-629-6406  ext 223.  As the instructional leader of this campus, I am responsible for all decisions made in the best interest of your student.  I am blessed and look forward to serving you!!  I am ready to take on this wonderful school year!!!
