Hello.  My  name is Shane Umphrey, and I love my job at St. Clair County Virtual Prepatory Academy Springville location.  Before coming to the VPA, I was a traditional classroom teacher for 18 years.  Over the years, I have taught biology, chemistry, anatomy, zoology, forensics, earth/space science, environmental science, and middle school science. The 2023-24 school year is my 20th year in public school education.

Family: I have been married to my wife, Amanda, for 19 years. She is also a public school educator.  We have two children. Caleb is a sophomore, and Abby is a 7th grader.  

In my spare time, I enjoy the outdoors, Alabama football, spending time with my family, traveling, and working on home projects.  I currently serve as the Associate Pastor at Pleasant Valley First Congregational Methodist Church in Gallant.
