Dr. Bradley Sargent

Since 2009, Dr. Sargent has been the director of the award-winning Moody band program, where bands under his direction have earned consistent superior ratings. In addition, Dr. Sargent maintains an active schedule as a freelance trumpeter and educator. He has performed as a member of the Samford University faculty brass quintet, as a member of the Birmingham-based Super-Jazz Big Band, and as an extra with the Alabama, Tuscaloosa, Greensboro (NC), Winston-Salem (NC), and Roanoke (VA) symphony orchestras. Prior to his arrival at Moody, Dr. Sargent spent nine years on the music faculty of Samford University, served several summers on the faculty of Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp (MI), was a teaching assistant at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and served as director of bands at Cleveland High School in the Blount County school system. He holds Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and the Bachelor of Science degree in music education from The University of Alabama. In his free time, Dr. Sargent enjoys being at home with his family on their St. Clair County farm.
