Hello Friends! My name is Michelle Simmons and I am a first grade teacher at Odenville Elementary School. I am starting my 17th year of teaching. All of my teaching experience has been at OES. I have taught kindergarten for five years and starting my twelfth year teaching first grade. I am originally from Southside (Etowah County) but now reside in Odenville. I am happily married to Barry Simmons. Barry is a PE teacher at Handley Middle School and coaches football at Handley High School. We have two beautiful daughters, Haley and Emily. We got a big surprise during quarantine! We are expecting a new baby girl in December, Riley Claire. We have a dog named Duke and three cats, Toto, Tiger, and Sammy. We love going to church, spending time with our family & friends, watching Alabama & JSU football and softball, watching Haley play travel softball, and playing with Emily.
I chose to become a teacher because I love to be around kids! Kids are so fun and they make me laugh! Kids are so special and unique! I strive to show love, encouragement, and joy to each student that walks into my classroom and even in our school. Kids are such a wonderful blessing and I am truly grateful that I chose to become a teacher!
