About the Teacher
Degrees and Certifications:
I graduated in 1998 from the University of Alabama with a degree in Public Relations. I worked in the corporate sector for a couple of years and quickly realized that my heart was not in the business world. I did some volunteer work in my nephew's elementary school and fell in LOVE with it! I knew then what I wanted to do!! I wanted to TEACH! I enrolled in the 5th year program at UAB and received my Master's Degree in Early Childhood/Elementary Education in 2004. After I graduated, I was blessed to begin working at Odenville Elementary School. I truly feel that I am doing what I was meant to do in life!
Mrs. Rhonda Smith
I am married to a great guy named Tom. We have two wonderful, terrific, precious kids! Luke is our 11 year old son and our daughter Kate is six. Luke is in fifth grade at OIS and Kate is in kindergarten (in Mrs. Brobeck's class). They are our miracle babies and I am so thankful for them! We live in Odenville and have two dogs. Samson is our black lab and SoJo is our shiba inu/german shephard mix. We love living the small town life. We are blessed!
All of my years of teaching have been spent at Odenville Elementary School. I taught first grade my very first year. I then moved to Kindergarten and I love working with the little ones! Every day is something new and every day, my kiddos give me a reason to laugh! My students (and I call them 'mine' because I feel as though they become 'mine') are precious, sweet souls and I love helping them learn and celebrate their successes! I started my 16th year of teaching this year. I know this will be the best year yet!
I will be sending out information about an event for next week - the Checkpoint Chit-Chat. Please look on our class facebook page for information. A note will go home soon.
