About the Teacher
Degrees and Certifications:
I graduated from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1997 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. In 2001, I earned a master's degree from UAB in Collaborative Education. In May of 2014, I completed an IMSLEC accredited course in the Shelton Academic Reading Approach, and I became registered as a certified academic language therapist in July of 2014.
I have been married to my husband, Dennis, for 26 years. We have two children, Josh and Jordan. We also have two dogs and a hedgehog: Teddy, Princess, and Spike. When I am not at school, I enjoy fishing, hiking, and reading. I love reading, and I want my students to find the joy of becoming lost in a great story!
I began teaching at Odenville Elementary School in 1997, and I have been teaching at Odenville Intermediate School since it was founded in 2007. I have been teaching in the area of special education for nineteen years. The 2019-2020 school year will be my twenty-third year to teach in Odenville.
