I started teaching in 2008 upon graduating from the University of Alabama at Birmingham where I double majored in English and Secondary Education. I received my Masters of Education degree in Secondary Education and English Language Arts from UAB in 2016 and my Education Specialist degree in 2018. I received National Board Certification in 2021 and I am currently pursuing my Ph.D. at UAB. 

I am proud to be a graduate of St. Clair County High School, and being able to teach at my former school is truly an honor. Go Saints! 

I am a reading fiend. I LOVE to read and young adult literature is one of my favorite genres, so it is no surprise that I LOVE teaching all things English Language Arts. My all time favorite book is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. My favorite young adult novel series are the Throne of Glass series by Sara J. Mass and the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series by Laini Taylor. I got married in 2011 to my wonderful husband, Josh. In addition to reading, I enjoy listening to podcasts and binging Netflix shows. I love Alabama Football and Cubs baseball. My favorite food is tacos. If I could live anywhere it would be the beach. I enjoy learning and teaching and look forward to working with my 7th grade students this school year!
