Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Amy Pitts
Hi, I am Amy Pitts. I was a special education teacher at Odenville Middle School the past two years. I taught special education in Limestone County for two and a half years before moving to Odenville. I have nine years prior experience in the early childhood classroom in the public school setting, as well as many years as a preschool teacher in private school settings. This year I am excited to be the school's reading interventionist!
I will be teaching all aspects of the reading process using multi-sensory methods and the computer programs Lexia and iSpire. I have a bachelor's and a master's degree in education from The University of Alabama! Roll Tide! I am married and live in Odenville. I have three young adult children and a precious one year old granddaughter. I also have an English bulldog named Georgia. I enjoy watching all University of Alabama sports, Olympic sports, reading, and going to the beach! I look forward to a wonderful year at OMS!
Beyond The Classroom with Reading! (COVID_19)
Hi everyone! I hope you are enjoying your time at home and you and your family are well! We begin our Beyond the Classroom home instruction Monday, April 6, 2020. Th first week is a review for all of your classes. I am asking each of you to complete 60 minutes (1 hour) on Lexia this week. Remember I can see what you are working on even when you are at home!
* If you do not have internet access at home, then please read for 60 minutes (1 hour) in addition to what your ELA teacher is asking you to do. You may read a novel, non-fiction books or articles, magazines, comic books, recipes as you cook a meal, instructions as you play a game with your family, ingredients on your cereal box or other household products, just read! You need to write down what you read and email it to me or turn it in by May 22nd (earlier if possible).
*On Tuesday, April 14th, you will turn in your work from April 7th-13th, and pick up your FINAL PACKET FOR THE YEAR! I will have some work for you in my bin on this Tuesday so look for it. While I placed some goal completion dates on the work to match any online instruction I provide, the work is officially due on May 22nd!
