My name is Jess Nelson, and I am the ESL teacher for Springville Elementary, Springville Middle, Springville High, and Margaret Elementary Schools. This is my 9th year of teaching and my 3rd year teaching ESL. I spent my first year of teaching overseas in Honduras teaching English to students at a private school. I then moved back to the states to continue my career teaching 5th grade for 5 years. Now, I am teaching ESL to help students improve their English skills in reading, writing, speaking, and listening. I am also the EdSTREAM Site Director for both the summer camp and extended day programs at Springville Elementary.

I received my bachelors degrees from Jacksonville State University (JSU) in Elementary and Special Education and my masters degree from The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) in English as a Second Language Education. My wife and I live in Springville, and she is a 3rd grade teacher at Margaret Elementary School. We have two dogs, Ellie and Milo. In my free time, I enjoy watching shows on Netflix, reading, exploring new restaurants, and traveling. I am looking forward to what this new year will bring!
