AMS Parents/Guardians:

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding as we work through issues related to educating our students in the next few weeks. We know that you have many questions that we will try to address here:

When can my student retrieve items from his/her locker? Items may be retrieved from lockers Monday - Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Only one person is allowed in the building at a time. You may want to call ahead before you come.


Where and how should I turn in assignment packets that have already been completed? A grey bin will be located outside the AMS front entrance Monday - Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. There will be large, brown envelopes available that can be used to turn in work. Please label with the student's name, grade and homeroom.


When are assignment packets and on-line work due? Packets and work that were assigned the week before Spring Break are due to be turned in by 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. These packets may be turned in on Friday, April 3rd, Monday, April 6th or Tuesday, April 7th between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.


How will my student access and turn in work beginning Monday, April 6, 2020? We encourage students who have internet access to complete work on-line in order to cut down on the possible transmission of the COVID 19 virus. Students may access instructions for completing assignments and receive instructional videos and other information through each teacher's website. These websites may be accessed from All online assignments will be completed through IXL.


What if my student is unable to complete assignments online? If your student has internet access, but no device, please contact AMS at 205-594-7044 for information about how to check out a device at no cost from the school. It will be necessary for the parent and student to sign a user agreement prior to checking out a device. Paper packets of assignments will

be made available for students who do not have internet access or for those students who may need them. Paper packets will be available outside the AMS front entrance Tuesdays - Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. beginning on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. Please contact the AMS office if you need assistance in obtaining a paper packet. Charter is offering free internet access for two months. Information is attached.


When are the assignments for the week of April 6th due? All online assignments and assignment packets that are assigned the week of April 6th will be due to be completed and turned in no later than Tuesday, April 14, 2020.


What does my student need to do about turning in library books and textbooks? We will be distributing information regarding turning in school property at a later date.


How do we need to go about ordering 8th grade pictures and yearbooks? 8th grade picture orders must be dropped off at the AMS office by Tuesday, April 7, 2020. Picture orders may also be mailed directly to Joe McEachern Photography. Yearbook orders and money may be turned in at the AMS office Monday - Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Yearbooks are $40.00 each.


How and when may I pick up food from the Ashville lunchroom? Food distribution from the lunchroom is on Tuesday of each week between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. You must access the pick-up point through the usual car rider line that begins on Roy Drive beside the baseball field. You will not be allowed to enter the meal line from the front school entrance. The Ashville Elementary entrance will be exit only on Tuesdays between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. during meal pick-up time. Please see the attached map for additional information.


How can I pick up my student's Backpack Buddies food bag? Backpack Buddies may be picked up at the AMS front entrance on Tuesdays between

9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. This food pick-up is only applicable to those students who have previously received Backpack Buddies at AMS.


When can I expect to receive additional information from Ashville Middle School? Ashville Middle School will periodically be sending out information via automated calls and emails as needed. You may expect to receive a weekly call from your student's Bulldog Pride Advisor. If you need additional information, you may contact the AMS office at 205-594-7044 Monday - Thursday between 9:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. You may contact any school employee by email between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Monday - Thursday.
