Assistive Technology

Every student in St. Clair County Schools has a Microsoft 365 account that provides assistive technology within the programs. These programs include some of the following tools:

  • Immersive Reader - a tool embedded into most Microsoft 365 programs such as Teams, Word, OneNote/Teams Class Notebook, and Forms that provides read-aloud, picture dictionary, basic grammar support, translation capabilities, as well as enlarged font, font spacing, line focus, and different background options.
  • PDF Read-Aloud/Annotation Tools - When opening a PDF using the Microsoft Edge internet browser, read-aloud, annotation, and highlighting tools are automatically available.
  • Speech-to-Text - a dictation tool embedded into most Microsoft 365 programs such as Word, PowerPoint, and OneNote/Teams Class Notebook that provides students a way to speak typed work into the assignment.
